Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Last updated July 2026
Blue Light Humanity Society (“BL Humanity”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
Who we are (Data Fiduciary)
BL Humanity is the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal data. You can reach our data-protection contact at contact@blhumanity.org.
What we collect and why (purpose)
- Donations: name, email, phone and (optionally) PAN — to process your donation, issue an 80G receipt and meet legal obligations.
- Contact & enquiries: name, email, phone and message — to respond to you.
- Newsletter: email — to send updates you asked for.
- Community: display name, city and posts — to run the moderated peer-support community.
We collect data only for these specific, stated purposes (purpose limitation) and only what is necessary (data minimisation).
Consent
We process your personal data based on the consent you give at the point of collection. Consent is specific, informed and unbundled — you actively tick a box for each purpose. You may withdraw consent at any time (see “Your rights”). We record the consent given, its purpose, timestamp and policy version.
How we protect your data
- Sensitive fields such as PAN and phone are encrypted at rest.
- The site is served over HTTPS with security headers and hardened access to the admin area.
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel, and admin actions are audit-logged.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay; we never store your card or bank details.
Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, donation and tax records). When no longer needed, data is securely deleted.
Your rights (DPDP Act)
As a Data Principal, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure of your data where it is no longer required.
- Grievance redressal and to withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@blhumanity.org or use our data-rights request form. We will verify your identity and respond within a reasonable time.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies by default. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to manage your choices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version and date at the top reflect the latest revision.
